Roma are ready to accept Javier Pastore doesn’t have any buyers, so are negotiating to terminate his contract by mutual consent.
The Argentina international will go down as one of the biggest flops in their transfer history, signed from PSG for €24.7m in 2018 and making only 37 competitive appearances for the club.
He scored four goals and provided three assists, but it’s a poor return from his €4.5m per season net salary.
Pastore’s contract runs to June 2023 and Tuttomercatoweb report that Roma have acknowledged there simply aren’t any buyers.
So today director Tiago Pinto is meeting with Pastore’s agent, Marcelo Simonian, to negotiate an early termination by mutual consent.
Unlike Steven Nzonzi, who is in a similar situation after several loan spells, Pastore probably won’t demand a huge signing-off fee in order to walk away from the contract.
The 32-year-old creative midfielder has been linked with Al-Rayyan SC in the Qatari Stars League.
