Zlatan Ibrahimovic continues his recovery at Milanello and wants to be ready for the first game of the season against Sampdoria.
The Swede had keyhole surgery on his knee in June and was expected to return to action in two months. He had picked up an injury against Juventus in May and was forced to miss UEFA Euro 2020.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the 40-year-old has followed the recovery program without issues and is pushing to be ready for Milan’s first official game of the season on Monday, August 23.
The former Manchester United star could return to running in about ten days and return to group training at the beginning of August.
Therefore, he would be ready to face Sampdoria at Marassi in the first game of the season.
If Ibra won’t be ready for that day, Olivier Giroud could start his first-ever Serie A game, having just completed a €2m move from Chelsea.
The Rossoneri face OGC Nice Real Madrid in friendly encounters on July 31 and on August 8, respectively.
