Fiorentina win first Italiano friendly

Fiorentina won their first pre-season friendly under Vincenzo Italiano, beating Ostermünchen 7-1 including a Luca Ranieri stunner and Marco Benassi brace.

The Viola had their debut outing with coach Italiano, who finally arrived from Spezia after weeks of negotiations and the abrupt departure of Gennaro Gattuso.

He immediately installed his preferred 4-3-3 formation and Nikola Milenkovic opened the scoring by nodding in a corner.

Giacomo Bonaventura’s back-heel flick and Alfred Duncan goals impressed, but the pick of the bunch was surely a spectacular Ranieri overhead kick.

Riccardo Saponara was also on target before a Benassi brace late on.

Goalkeeper Bartlomiej Dragowski did not take part due to a muscular problem.
