Barca turn to Pellegrini after Wijnaldum snub

With reports Georginio Wijnaldum has signed for PSG, Diario AS claims Barcelona will instead turn to Roma midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini.

The situation caught Barca by surprise, as they were all set to sign Wijnaldum as a free agent from Liverpool.

He suddenly changed his mind yesterday with an improved offer from Paris Saint-Germain and Sky Sport Italia reporter Fabrizio Romano insists Wijnaldum signed the contract this afternoon until June 2024.

That means the Blaugrana need a replacement and Diario AS points towards Pellegrini.

The Italy international turns 25 later this month and has a €30m release clause in his contract.

A new deal has been negotiated for some time, but still not signed, and it runs to June 2022.

Despite injuries, Pellegrini still contributed 11 goals and nine assists in 47 competitive games last season, helping Roma to the Europa League semi-finals.
