‘Untouchable’ Man City side with Jack Grealish and Harry Kane that will strike fear into Premier League title rivals Chelsea, Liverpool and Man United

Manchester City are set to announce the signing of Jack Grealish as they make a huge statement in the transfer market in their relentless push to be the best team in Europe.

Pep Guardiola’s side won the Premier League title last term – their third in the last four seasons – but the Champions League trophy eluded City once more as they lost to Chelsea in the final.

Guardiola wants to add a Champions League trophy to his haul at City

Guardiola has already built a fearsome squad with hundreds of millions of pounds worth of talent regularly left on the bench.

But with European glory still missing, City are set to splash the cash in the close season to help them take that final step and continue their domestic dominance.

Jack Grealish, a player who has been up there with the best in the Premier League while at Aston Villa, is joining in a £100million deal.

City are also set push to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham, with claims the striker is attempting to force through his move to City by remaining absent from the training ground, where he was expected ahead of the new season.

Kane was the Premier League’s top marksman last season, scoring 23 times

Both transfers would eclipse the British record, currently held by Paul Pogba’s £89m move back to Man United in 2016.

City’s sign of intent would strike fear into clubs up and down the Premier League, as well as across Europe.

They are already favourites to win every competition in 2021/21 and the additions of Grealish and Kane would add to an already formidable-looking squad.

Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United couldn’t live with City last season – and that was despite them playing for much of the season without an out-and-out striker.

City finished 12 points clear of Man United in second, while Liverpool and Chelsea trailed them by 17 and 19 points respectively.

If Kane and Grealish join, Andros Townsend warned City’s rivals they can forget about the title again.

Foden played a key role in Man City’s title success and could now be aided by two more superstars

“They’d be untouchable,” said the Crystal Palace winger. “Grealish is a special talent and dragged that Villa team to the top half last season.

“If they get Grealish and Kane, forget about it.”

The biggest problem for Guardiola is finding room for all his talent in one squad, and that could mean position changes for one or two.

Foden often played on the left later on in the season, being preferred to Raheem Sterling.

The young England star could shift over to the right, where he started against Croatia in the opening Euro 2020 game, and Grealish taking up the left wing.

A front three of Grealish, Kane and Foden would showcase some of the best attacking talent England has to offer.

How Man City could line-up next season with Grealish and Kane

If Pep Guardiola plays his favoured 4-3-3 formation, then behind those attackers could sit Ilkay Gundogan, Rodri and Kevin De Bruyne.

Gundogan had a brilliant season, scoring 13 Premier League goals, with De Bruyne likely to provide chances galore for the front three.

Rodri has been impressive in the defensive midfield role since joining from Atletico Madrid in a £62.6million transfer, although Fernandinho remains an influential part of the squad.

The back four picks itself at this moment in time with Oleksandr Zinchenko, Ruben Dias, John Stones and Kyle Walker having excellent seasons.

Ederson has no real competition, but has consistently proved himself to be one of the best in the league.

However, Guardiola will have plenty of options to mix up his team as regularly as he wants to.

De Bruyne will love having more attacking stars alongside him

Riyad Mahrez played 48 times last season and will surely have a big role to play again, while Sterling wasn’t at his best for much of 2020/21 but has shown for England at the Euros this summer he is still a top-level player.

Then there’s Bernardo Silva, the Portuguese magician who could walk into any team, while Ferran Torres will be desperate to have a much bigger impact.

Gabriel Jesus, Joao Cancelo, Nathan Ake and Benjamin Mendy are all international players too who will stake a claim for a place.

Will anyone be able to match Man City next season?
