Spoiler: Goldberg’s WWE return confirmed as legend gets another high profile match

WWE are wasting no time rolling out the big guns now that they are back in front of fans.

Hall of Famer Goldberg is set to make his return to the company to set up a big clash at SummerSlam.

Fightful Select are reporting that the former four-time world champion will make his return on Monday Night RAW on July 19, the first RAW in front of fans in over 18 months.

The 54-year-old will set up a clash with WWE champion Bobby Lashley – providing he defeats Kofi Kingston at Money in the Bank – as he vies to become world champion once again.

Lashley took the long route to the WWE title, but he’s in the form of his life

Goldberg last competed against Drew McIntyre for the WWE title at the Royal Rumble this year, but he was unsuccessful in his attempt to dethrone the first-ever British born WWE world champion.

Prior to that, Goldberg had appeared at WrestleMania 36 and dropped the Universal title to Braun Strowman, who is no longer with the company.

The WCW legend has a deal with WWE through 2023 where he competes at least twice a year. Usually, WWE reserves one of his appearances for their ultra-lucrative trips to Saudi Arabia.

However, this is WWE’s biggest show in recent memory. They’re packing out the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas for their first major stadium show since the coronavirus pandemic took over the world.

Once Goldberg competes, it will be his last appearance of the year under his current deal. Unless, of course, WWE pay him to work more dates which isn’t inconceivable.

If Goldberg does indeed take on Lashley, the top of the card at SummerSlam is taking shape.

Roman Reigns is reportedly taking on John Cena with his Universal title on the line. Seth Rollins is set to take on Edge in a first-time ever matchup and PW Insider is reporting that Becky Lynch’s return to the company is close if not imminent.

WWE’s first show in front of a full arena of fans since the pandemic started goes down tonight on SmackDown.
