Snoop Dogg says WWE briefly banned him after AEW appearance, now they pay him double

Hip-hop icon Snoop Dogg is not only rap royalty, but he’s a WWE Hall of Famer, too.

The west-coast rapper has made several appearances in WWE down the years and is also the real-life cousin of Sasha Banks. Snoop also features on Banks’ theme song.

However, back in January, Snoop appeared on AEW TV. Not only that, he got physical and delivered one of the worst splashes from the top rope you’re like to ever see.

Talking to Pete Rosenberg, a WWE affiliate himself, Snoop revealed how the appearance in AEW came about.

“They felt some type of way,” Snoop told Hot 97’s Ebro in the Morning podcast.

“Let me tell you this, Snoop Dogg ain’t no wrestler. He’s bigger than that. You gotta understand that. This is the dynamics of what happened: I had a show on TBS called Go-Big Show.

“So, Cody Rhodes was one of the judges on the show, and he’s one of the top dogs at AEW. So, as a promotional vehicle for the gig, I went on AEW.”

Although WWE have claimed to be unbothered by the surging AEW since their inception, they were indeed annoyed with Snoop’s appearance according to the 49 year old.

“‘Hey, you f***ing with them? We got to push pause on your ass for a minute,’” Snoop said of WWE’s reaction. “So, I say, ‘cool.’ They pushed pause for about two weeks, and then they say, ‘Hey man, we got this video game and we need you.’ Well, you know what? Since y’all told me to push pause, that’ll be double.”

The iconic rapper says WWE acquiesced to his demands, too.

Presumably, Snoop is talking about the new 2K game WWE 2K22. It’s still in early development but it was teased over WrestleMania weekend and it seems as though 2K are making a big comeback into the space.

Snoop will have no doubt been wanted for a voiceover. It’s hard to imagine they’d want to do motion capturing after seeing that splash!
