Having been part of the star studded transfer window, the last of PSG’s summer signings, Sergio Ramos could finally make his debut for the club.
The Real Madrid legend left the Spanish capital upon the expiration of his contract last season and signed a two-year-deal with the Parisians.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side host Nantes as they look to extend their lead at the top of Ligue 1 to 13 points of second placed Lens.
While it should be a straightforward afternoon for the Parisians, it will be one Ramos is set to savour having been injured since joining the club.
The 35-year-old has been nursing calf and knee cartilage injuries since signing for the club and could have nearly been forced out early had he not shown progression in his recovery.
PSG were reportedly looking to cancel his contract but those rumours never came to fruition and now the Spaniard looks set to finally appear in PSG’s back line.
Even when the rumours of Ramos’ early departure were circulating, former Real Madrid team mate Dani Carvajal backed him to overcome his injury woes and eventually start for the Parisians.
“Sergio Ramos? I can relate with what is happening. He is the first who wants to be back as soon as possible,” said Carvajal.
“Nobody can doubt Ramos’ professionalism. I do not think that a club like PSG will terminate his contract but I would welcome him here with open arms. He’s a dear friend.”
With Ramos set to make his debut in Ligue 1, providing he comes away from the match unscathed, he could also feature in the club’s mouth-watering tie against Manchester City in the Champions League.
Against Nantes though, Ramos will not play with Neymar as he is being preserved for their match against City due to an issue in his left thigh.
The Brazil star is expected to recover from his injury in time for the City clash.
