Sergio Aguero’s ‘still got it’ amid Chelsea and Barcelona transfer links as Man City star reveals he does not want statue built in his honour

Sergio Aguero has ‘still got plenty to offer’ after his superb goal in Man City’s 2-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday.

The 32-year-old opened the scoring with his first Premier League goal of the season from open play with an emphatic finish past Vicente Guaita in the 57th minute.

Aguero looked back to his old self against Palace

Aguero, who is leaving City at the end of the season, will lift his fifth Premier League title if Manchester United lose to Liverpool on Sunday.

With Barcelona and Chelsea both linked to the Argentine, talkSPORT pundit Dean Ashton insists Aguero’s next club will still be getting a lethal finisher if he stays fit.

He said: “Aguero was brilliant. He was really sharp.

“If it doesn’t quite go their way in midweek [against Paris Saint-Germain], he’s definitely there ready to come on and make an impact.

“His goal was so typical of Sergio Aguero. A brilliant touch and then a flash of a shot into the roof of the net. It shows he’s still got plenty to offer when he’s fit.

“He looked fit, sharp and hungry. The quality in which he took his goal was simply Aguero.

“He sort of made those sort of finishes his trademark. It was great to see him back with a smile on his face, fit.

“There is a team that will still get a quality player next season if he stays fit.”

Aguero is arguably one of the greatest ever Premier League strikers

Aguero has scored 258 goals during a hugely successful 10-year spell with Man City.

The Citizens have confirmed they will honour their all-time leading goalscorer with a statue outside the Etihad – something Aguero does not appear to want!

In his post-match press conference, he told BT Sport: “The club, when they told me, I told them I don’t want nothing.

“Honestly, I prefer to wait until the end because I said three or four years ago, I’ll let them decide.

“I’ll play until the end, it’s my job.”
