Chelsea and Manchester United have both made strong starts to the new Premier League season thanks their two huge signings in the summer transfer window.
The Blues splashed out £97.5million to re-sign Romelu Lukaku whilst Manchester United made Critiano Ronaldo the highest paid player in the league as they brought him back to Old Trafford.
Having bolstered their frontlines significantly, both clubs are expected to challenge for major honours this season.
And speaking on talkSPORT, former Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor reckons the duo are set to net goals galore.
“Lukaku and Ronaldo can get 28 goals,” he said.
“You think of 28 and you think ‘wow its a lot of goals’ but the way he’s scoring at the moment and the way he’s playing you’d back him to score in 28 games.
“Say one goal in 28 games and maybe don’t score for 10 games, Lukaku can get 28 goals, Ronaldo can.”
Both players showcased exactly why they were re-signed as Lukaku netted twice against Aston Villa, the same amount as Ronaldo got on his second debut against Newcastle United.
There is certainaly no question that these two phenomenal strikers will be vying for the golden boot.
Agbonlahor continued to praise Lukaku and believes he’s reached another level, as showcased with one of his finishes.
He added: “Most strikers there who aren’t world class would have left foot and probably got blocked or the keeper saves it.
“[Timo] Werner would have shot left-foot there and probably would have been a tame effort, keeper saves it.
“Lukaku’s clever he knows the defender thinks he’s going to shoot on his left-foot, he chops back inside and then slots it home.
“With Chelsea having someone like that whose guaranteed to score goals, that’s going to take them to the next step in winning the title.”
The Belgian Chelsea star rose to the challenege set by Ronaldo on Saturday, who also got two goals, and Agbonlahor felt it was inevitable.
“I think everyone in the world knew Ronaldo some way would find a goal today. When they were 1-1 who comes up with a goal?” He added.
“That’s the sort of player he is, he’s going to come with those big goals when Manchester United need him.
“That’s vintage Ronaldo [the second goal], you know if he gets the ball in them positions, left foot [or] right foot he’s gonna smash through the ball and the keeper had no chance.
“That’s what Manchester United brought him in to do, get them goals.”
