Renato Sanches is set to sign for Wolves on a season-long loan, talkSPORT understands.
The midfielder has had a rollercoaster career at the age of just 24 and is now set for a surprise return to the Premier League.
Sanches previously failed to impress during a loan spell at Swansea from Bayern Munich back in 2017/18.
However he has since revitalised his career at Lille and looked a different man when featuring for Portugal at the Euros in the summer.
And now, talkSPORT’s Alex Crook reports that he is set to join Bruno Lage’s Wolves on a season-long loan.
Lage previously managed the Benfica youth team between 2004-2012.
Sanches came through the Benfica academy and youth set-up between 2006-2015.
In 2015/16, Sanches broke through at Benfica and was subsequently called up to the Portugese national team for their victorious Euro 2016 campaign.
He came off the bench for the first few matches, then established himself as a starter and helped the nation win the competition, despite being just 18.
The box-to-box midfielder’s performances were enough to earn him a £27.5million move to Bayern Munich.
During his time in Germany, playing less minutes, he was not able to impress.
A poor run of form left him out of favour at the club and he was sent on a one-year loan to Swansea.
Unfortunately for Sanches, things only got worse, his spell in the Premier League was unsuccessful.
After his horrid time in England, he made the move to Lille, and his remarkable turnaround began.
Last season, he was an integral part of the team that beat PSG to claim the Ligue 1 title.
He subsequently earned himself a recall into the Portugal set up, and performed brilliantly at the Euros.
Now he will prepare for a new challenge back in England.
