‘Nothing ever affects him’ – Man City and Man United transfer links won’t stop Harry Kane from starring at Euro 2020, insists former Tottenham teammate Michael Dawson

Harry Kane’s uncertain Tottenham future will not affect his form with England at Euro 2020.

That is according to former Three Lions defender Michael Dawson, who played with Kane at Spurs.

Kane could leave Tottenham amid interest from the two Manchester clubs

The England captain has been linked with a £150million move away from north London following Tottenham’s failure to win a trophy or qualify for Champions League football last season.

With England kicking off their Euro 2020 campaign against Croatia on June 13, there have been suggestions Kane could be distracted because of interest from Manchester City and Manchester United.

However, Dawson, who won four caps for England, insists Kane will be fully committed to England despite all the transfer talks.

He told talkSPORT: “We’ve got so much talent, we are blessed with it. Harry Kane comes short, he can create, he can run in behind, he can score all types of goals.

“What’s been going off the pitch, I don’t think it’ll affect him. He’s an absolute model pro. He works so hard day in, day out.

“Nothing ever affects him. You never read anything about him that’s happening off the pitch. He’s still got three years left on his Spurs contract.

“I don’t believe it’ll affect him because he’s had that mentality from such a young age that he’s focused.”

England are one of the bookmakers’ favourites to win Euro 2020 – and if Gareth Southgate’s men lift the trophy – it would be the first piece of silverware of Kane’s career.

Dawson added: “Lifting any trophy in your home country… what an opportunity.

“It’s going to be tough. There are some top teams in the tournament. But we’ve got some incredible talent.

“I’m excited as a fan to be watching and cheering them on.”
