New stars you should look out for in Premier League’s opening weekend, including Jadon Sancho, Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate and 34-goal sensation

Euro 2020 may have ended last weekend but you don’t have to wait long for the football to be back on.

That’s because the new Premier League season is upon us in just four weeks time and talkSPORT will be bang across everything with our award-winning GameDay coverage.

With a new season comes new players and there are some very interesting transfer rumours that are hotting up this summer.

Where does Harry Kane’s future lie? Will Manchester City sign Jack Grealish as well? Can Chelsea break Borussia Dortmund’s resolve on Erling Haaland?

We’re still no clearer to finding out whether these transfers will be happening but some are already done and dusted, or extremely close to being announced.

talkSPORT.com has picked out FIVE players completely new to the Premier League that you could see during the opening weekend.

Which ones will you have your eye on?

Ibrahima Konate

Shortages in defence were Liverpool’s downfall last season and the club addressed that situation early in the transfer window by signing Konate.

The 22-year-old comes with plenty of pedigree, having made many appearances for France at youth level.

And when you have Virgil van Dijk as your partner at centre-back and Jurgen Klopp as your manager, Konate has every chance of taking his game to the next level.

Junior Firpo

Leeds fans were very upset to see Ezgjan Alioski leave, but they’ve found an exciting replacement in Firpo.

The left-back moved to Elland Road from Barcelona earlier this month.

Firpo loves to get forward so will suit Marcelo Bielsa’s system down to the ground. He has also played for Spain’s under-21 side four times.

Marc Guehi

Chelsea fans will be familiar with this guy, however, Guehi is yet to feature in the Premier League.

He’s on the verge of joining Crystal Palace after spending the second half of the 2019/20 season and all of last term on loan at Championship club Swansea.

Although he’s played for England at youth level many times, Guehi was born in the Ivory Coast so there could be a scramble for his international allegiances if he can shine for the Eagles.

Patson Daka

If there’s one thing Daka knows how to do, it’s scoring goals. The Zambian netted 34 goals in all competitions last season.

This was for Red Bull Salzburg and playing in the Premier League will be a step up – Erling Haaland had no issues transitioning from the Austrian Bundesliga to scoring in Germany’s top flight though.

Time will tell on how Daka settles in but if he does well then Leicester know they’ve got themselves an ideal replacement to club legend Jamie Vardy.

Jadon Sancho

Incredibly this hasn’t been officially announced yet, but it’s definitely happening!

Sancho had an extended Euro 2020 campaign with England but has every chance of starting Manchester United’s opener against Leeds on August 14, especially with Marcus Rashford sidelined through injury.

The 21-year-old is joining the Red Devils for £73m plus add-ons and will be keen to begin repaying that huge fee from the beginning.

Signing Sancho is a major coup for Man United. Can they challenge Man City for the title?
