Liverpool star Mohamed Salah deserves ‘anything he wants’, talkSPORT told, with Reds fans still waiting for news over Egyptian King’s contract and future

Mohamed Salah has arguably been the best player in the world this season and can ‘demand what he wants’ in talks over a new Liverpool contract.

That’s according to Arsenal legend Ray Parlour, who has told talkSPORT the Egyptian King deserves to be paid top dollar if he pens fresh terms at Anfield.

Mohamed Salah is in the form of his life

Salah is in the final two years of his current Reds deal and has yet to sign a new contract with the Merseyside club.

Liverpool’s no.11 has started this season in blistering form having scored 15 goals in as many games this season, as well as contributing six assists.

Some of his stellar performances have included a hat-trick in a 5-0 drubbing of Manchester United at Old Trafford and potential goal of the season contenders against Manchester City and Watford.

Given the form he is in this season and how crucial he will be to Jurgen Klopp’s side as they chase major honours, many wouldn’t hesitate to offer him a new contract, even if it is upwards of £400,000-a-week as some reports suggest.

Arsenal Invincible Parlour was keen to discuss Salah’s case for earning that mega-money new deal.

Mane and Salah are both going to be heading off with their respective for the Africa Cup of Nations leaving Liverpool without two of their key men

And he highlighted how the Reds might struggle without their star man – which they’ll get a taste of later this season when both he and fellow forward Sadio Mane head off for the Africa Cup of Nations in January.

“I can’t look past Liverpool,” Parlour said when talking about Jurgen Klopp’s side’s chances for the Premier League title.

“The problem with Liverpool is the Africa Nations, that can affect them big time, they lose Mane and Salah.

“He’s been unbelievable [Salah], frightening with how he’s played this season, the goals he’s scored…

“He’s done at the right time because now he can demand what he wants really with his new contract.

“I’m sure his representatives are saying to Liverpool ‘wait a minute, he deserves £400,000-a-week’.

Salah’s agent, Ramy Abbas attempted to force the club’s hand to give him a massive contract

“If you’re Liverpool owners, yeah he does deserve it because what he’s done on that field has been absolutely brilliant. He does it week-in, week-out.”

There is no question that every Reds supporter wants to see Salah see out his career at Anfield, as does the player, who has effectively said the situation is not in his control.

“This does not depend [on] me,” Salah said when asked about his Liverpool future earlier this term.

“But if you ask me, I would love to stay until the last day of my football [career].

“But I can’t say much about that, [it’s] not in my hands.”

One thing that is for certain, is the club will not want to lose him on a free in 2023 when his contract expires.

If a deal can’t be agreed, then it looks almost certain that Salah and the club will part ways next summer the club boasting a good track record of getting top dollar for their star men.
