Leicester ‘get a free ride’ when it comes to Premier League finishes and Tottenham ‘would be ripped apart’ if they failed to achieve top four in the way the Foxes have.
That’s the view of talkSPORT host Andy Goldstein, with a damning stat emerging as Brendan Rodgers’ side face the prospect of missing out on Champions League football… again!

Last season, the Foxes capitulated after the Premier League restart and ended up finishing fifth, despite looking bankers for a top four finish.
The same thing appears to be happening this season, with Leicester dropping down to fifth with one game left to play.
They can still make it, though, if they get a result against Tottenham AND if Chelsea or Liverpool lose.
You can listen to Leicester’s game with Tottenham at the King Power Stadium on Sunday live on talkSPORT.
Damning statistics have emerged about the Foxes’ top four pursuit:
- Over the least two seasons combined, they have spent 68 of the last 71 weeks in the Champions League places.
- Leicester spent the third longest time in the top four of the Premier League last season, yet finished 5th (325 days).
- The Foxes have spent longer in the top four than any other Premier League side this term (242 days).
If that was Tottenham, they would be getting heavily criticised, according to Goldstein.
Andy Goldstein thinks Tottenham would have been criticised more if they’d done the same as Leicester[/caption]
On The Sports Bar, he said: “Leicester have just won the FA Cup and it was only a few years ago they won the Premier League.
“When we are talking about clubs who know what it is like to be successful, Leicester are in that conversation.
“I read a stat out yesterday that Leicester have been in the top four over the last two years 68 out of 71.
“In both of those seasons, so far as this season isn’t over, they’ve failed to get top four.
“If that would have been, for arguments sake if it was Spurs, if Spurs would have been in the top four all last season and missed out and then the same thing happened again this season, we and football fans would be ripping them apart.
“‘Oh they are bottlers, no top four again’.
“Leicester seem to have a free ride, why is that? Why aren’t we saying if Brendan Rodgers fails to get Leicester in the top four again? And it happened last year – there are big problems.
“Why aren’t we saying that? Because it’s little old Leicester.”
