Watch out Jim White and Alex Crook, there’s a new transfer story sheriff in town.
He comes in the form of UFC legend Khabib Nurmagomedov, who claims to have been in the know about Cristiano Ronaldo’s next destination long before his move back to Manchester United was confirmed.
Khabib says he knew Ronaldo, who he speaks to ‘almost every day’, says he knew the Portuguese was heading to Old Trafford a month ago.
Ronaldo looked set to join Man United’s bitter rivals Manchester City but he made a return to the Red Devils less than 24 hours later.
It stunned the football world, however, Khabib insists the plans were in the works for some time.
“A month ago, he told me that he was moving to Manchester United,” Nurmagomedov told reporters at the New Knowledge Marathon in Moscow, per the Daily Mail.
“I expected this deal to take place. I think that Manchester United is more suitable for him than Juventus. For me, the transition was not a surprise.”
Ronaldo, who recently became the all-time top scorer in international football history, is revered by Man United fans having won nine trophies in his first spell, including three Premier League titles and a Champions League.
It’s since been announced he will wear the iconic No.7 shirt, like he did in his first spell. Edinson Cavani will don the No.21 shirt as a result.
The 36-year-old has made a return from international duty early ahead of his likely second Man United debut as they take on Newcastle in the Premier League on September 11.
talkSPORT will be fully across that match for you on the radio, social media and online.
And if Khabib has any other big transfer scoops, then Mr White would love to hear from you at talkSPORT!
