Inter Milan v Real Madrid LIVE commentary and team news: European giants clash in Champions League group stages

Inter Milan welcome Real Madrid to the San Siro tonight in what promises to be a thrilling Champions League contest between the European big guns.

The Nerazzurri have struggled in recent years but have a fresh new squad set for bigger things despite the departure of their star striker Romelu Lukaku.

Lautaro Martinez had a lethal partnership with Lukaku, scoring 17 Serie A goals in Inter’s title-winning season last term

Real won the competition most recently out of the two sides with the Serie A club now without a European title in over a decade.

The two giants have a level head-to-head, both winning five apiece and only drawing once.

They also have scored the same against each other, so expect yet another close match-up between them.

Inter Milan v Real Madrid: Team news

Inter will have a couple of injury troubles ahead of this mammoth clash.

Alessandro Bastoni is likely out of the match with a muscle injury while Stefano Sensi’s return is still unspecified due to his ligament injury.

Inter are still without Christian Eriksen who has made an incredible recovery after collapsing during the Euro 2020 tournament.

The Denmark star has been back training from early August but will take time to recover fully and get back to match fitness.

Real, however, only have the one injury concern with Gareth Bale.

The Welsh international will have to stay on the sidelines for as long as a few months with a hamstring injury.
