Dillian Whyte says he wants Anthony Joshua rematch NEXT, rather than wait for eventual shot at Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder 3 winner

Dillian Whyte has stated that he wants to fight Anthony Joshua now, rather than target the winner of Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder 3 as his coach suggested.

The British heavyweight champions looked set to meet this summer, however Wilder’s arbitration victory scuppered their bout.

Now, Fury will have to face Wilder again next.

This fight is signed for July 24 with an official announcement seemingly coming this week.

Meanwhile AJ is seeking a new opponent.

He looks to have found his next foe in the form of WBO mandatory Oleksandr Usyk.

The WBO have ordered this bout against the Ukrainian, who has been waiting for his shot for the past two years.

Talks are underway, but the Brit does always have the option to vacate his belt and pursue another fight.

This is seemingly what Whyte is hoping for.

On Monday morning, his trainer Xavier Miller put up a post on his Instagram story which read: “We want Wilder vs Fury 3 winner.”

Whyte replied: “No, I want AJ now next.”

Whyte wants Joshua next

Back in 2019, Whyte beat Oscar Rivas to become the WBC mandatory for Wilder.

When Fury took the American’s title in February 2020, it appeared Whyte would get his shot in the near future.

However, he was KOd by Alexander Povetkin six months later and the mandatory position evaporated.

Despite winning the rematch to regain the WBC ‘interim’ belt, they are yet to reinstate Whyte as mandatory, hence why he would seemingly rather face Joshua to get a guaranteed title shot.
