‘Broken’ Conor McGregor told to forget fourth Dustin Poirier fight after getting his ‘a** whipped so bad’ at UFC 264

Chael Sonnen has told Conor McGregor and his fans to forget a fourth fight with Dustin Poirier after getting his ‘ass whipped so bad’ at UFC 264 in their trilogy bout.

The Irishman left the T-Mobile Arena on a stretcher after fracturing his tibia and fibula at the end of the very first round during the third fight between the two lightweights.

Sonnen warned McGregor – ‘If you get your ass whipped so bad that you’re broken, that doesn’t get you a rematch’

With the score now 2-1 in favour of Poirier, it would seem inconceivable and illogical for a fourth fight between the pair, especially given how dominant ‘The Diamond’ was.

The 32-year-old butchered his opponent from the top, won the striking exchanges and managed to withstand a rare submission attempt as well.

Although the injury was unfortunate, the result seemed a foregone conclusion after five minutes with a bloodied and breathless McGregor struggling to deal with the pace and pressure of the Louisiana-native.

And former middleweight and light-heavyweight title contender Sonnen fears talk of a fourth fight is distracting from the brilliance of Poirier.

Sonnen is a fan of ‘The Notorious’, but does not want to see another instalment against Poirier

“Let’s start with an amazing narrative that there should be a fourth fight,” Sonnen said on his YouTube channel. “Do you understand the disrespect that you are showing to Dustin Poirier?

“For any of you that think that that fight warrants another fight, we can do it for money, we could do it for attention and cash.

“We can do it for a lot of things, but competitiveness and architecture of sport are none of them.

“That was a beating. That was a beating like few I have ever seen.

‘The Diamond’ held advantages in every single facet of the fight once the doors of the Octagon slammed shut at UFC 264

“And don’t forget; two of the three licensed judges that elevated themselves to a main event of a pay-per-view had it 10-8. Do you know what 10-8 means?”

“It has already been rewritten, and that just fascinates me,” Sonnen added.

“If you get your ass whipped so bad that you’re broken, that doesn’t get you a rematch.”
