Rennes reach an impasse in several deals including Jens Cajuste, Newcastle and Brentford enter race

Rennes’ pursuit of Swedish international midfielder Jens Cajuste (21) of FC Midtjylland has reached an impasse.

With the Breton club keen to recruit a number six this summer, their second offer for Cajuste has been rejected report Le Parisien. Meanwhile, RMC report that Rennes would need to make player sales before upping their bid further with Newcastle and Brentford also interested in the player.

AZ Alkmaar and Dutch international Teun Koopmeiners (23) is also interesting Rennes as a possible alternative but any deal remains a way away.

In terms of outgoings, Borussia Mönchengladbach had enquired as to the availability of left sided player Faitout Maouassa (23) but nothing concrete has emerged as yet. Celtic’s interest in full-back Sacha Boey (20), meanwhile, has stalled but other clubs remain keen say Le Parisien

One move set to be completed is that of Nimes and Norway left-back Birger Meling (26), with only a medical left to finalise.
