Raphaël Varane misses international break with hamstring injury

L’Équipe report that France defender Raphaël Varane will miss the next international break through an injury picked up in Manchester United’s match against Atalanta.

Having been taken off before half-time in his club’s fourth Champions League group stage tie, which would end a 2-2 draw, tests today have revealed the hamstring injury.

The World Cup winner is expected to be out for three to four weeks, and as a result will miss the November international break. Les Bleus will play two 2022 World Cup qualifiers, against Kazakhstan and Finland, with a win in either game securing their ticket for Qatar.

Varane had also suffered an adductor injury last month during the Nations League final against Spain.
