The LFP, the governing body of French football’s professional leagues, has announced that it will hold a meeting tomorrow for its disciplinary commission to take action on yesterday’s crowd trouble during the Derby du Nord between Lens and Lille.
The match notably saw a pitch invasion at half time on the part of Lens fans to confront the away end, in which tension between the two sets of fans notably led to seat-throwing. Riot police eventually intervened to push the supporters back, with the match resumed with increased security presence. Six people sustained minor injuries, according to L’Équipe.
Today, the LFP condemned the pitch invasion, concluding that given “the gravity of the events” it would bring its disciplinary commission together tomorrow.
