RMC Sport report this afternoon that young Saint-Étienne midfielder Lucas Gourna-Douath has been the object of interest from some of Europe’s top clubs, with Serie A club Atalanta set to be the first to make an offer.
La Dea are expected to formulate a €10m offer for the 17-year-old midfielder, who made 30 league appearances in his first full professional campaign last season.
In addition to the Italian side, Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen have made enquiries over the French youth international’s availability, while Chelsea have also been in contact.
Nevertheless, it appears that the midfielder is set to stay in Ligue 1 for another season at least – with the clubs interested being made aware of Gourna-Douath’s decision to remain in France for an extra year. As a result, the teenager is expected to sign a contract extension linking him to Les Verts until 2025, and will line up for Claude Puel’s side this coming season unless a substantial offer comes in this summer to change the situation.
